Veterinary drugs are pharmacologically active substances that are administered to animals in the case of disease. It is branch of medicines that deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease as well as disease prevention in animals, disorder and injury in all types from family pets to farm livestock to zoo animals.
They mainly consist of ectoparasiticides and emulsifiable concentrations, pour-on and Sprays, Spot On, Teat Dip, Feed supplement etc. Ectoparasiticides or emulsifiable concentrations are mainly used for control and treatment of ticks, fleas, flies etc. in animals such as cattles, sheeps, goats, horses, dogs etc. Pour on are used for control and management of tick species including strains resistant to carbamates, amidines, chlorinated hydrocarbons, organophosphates and organochlorine group of insecticides. Liquid spray are used for effective treatment and prevention of all life stages of ectoparaciticides i.e. ticks (including ticks responsible for tick fever), flea (flea allergy dermatitis) and lice in dogs and cats.
Liquid disinfectants are mainly used in poultry where viruses, bacteria, mycoplasma and fungi exist. They are mainly used for cleaning surfaces in poultry. They come in liquid as well as powder form.
Liquid preparations for oral use are usually solutions, emulsions or suspensions containing one or more active ingredients in a suitable vehicles; they may in some cases simply consist of a liquid active ingredient used as such. Liquid preparations for oral use are supplied in the finished form.
Feed supplements are phosphate, calcium and trace mineral mixtures that can be given to grazing animals during the dry or rainy season. They supplement grazing when it is deficient in minerals and trace minerals
